SYSTEM MAINTENANCE
FUEL SYSTEM PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE PROGRAM - Generators should be run regularly according to Manufacturers' recommendations. In addition, a program should be instituted for maintaining the transfer pumps and controls that bring fuel to these generators. Such a program should include:

Visual inspection of all equipment, piping, gauges, etc...

Verify pumps are fully primed

Cycle pumps (manually & automatic modes)

Check tolerances

Grease motors

Clean strainer baskets

Test all alarms (day tank / header levels, leaks, valve position alarms, etc.)

Verify outputs from control panel to building management system

Verify tank gauging system levels & alarms

Inspect tank for integrity

Test high level alarm at fill box

Analyze fuel oil with report on fuel quality
